What a car shampoo is (and what a vacuum misses)
A vacuum lifts loose dirt from the surface. A shampoo goes into the fibres. The Top Standard team works a cleaning solution into the fabric with brushes, let it break down the dirt and stains, then pull the dirty water back out with an extractor. That last step matters: the dirt leaves the car instead of sinking deeper into the foam under the seat cover.
Shampoo is the right fix for:

Salt stains: the Oakville winter problem
Road salt dissolves in slush, soaks into carpet on your boots and dries into hard white rings. The longer it sits, the deeper it sets, and salt left in the carpet keeps pulling moisture into the floor. A light layer comes out with the single shampoo in Top Standard. Heavy, crusted salt needs the double shampoo and heavy salt removal in the Pro package.
Our tip: book a shampoo in late winter or early spring, once the worst salt season is over, and keep rubber mats in the car from November to March. Read more in our winter car care guide.
Our shampoo process, step by step
- Dry vacuum of seats, carpets, mats and the trunk to lift loose dirt and sand first.
- Pre-treat stains and salt lines so the cleaner can break them down.
- Agitate the shampoo into the fibres with brushes, panel by panel.
- Extract the dirty water with an extractor. We repeat on heavy stains.
- Groom and dry: we brush the fibres flat and leave the seats damp, not soaked.

How long the seats take to dry
Shampooed fabric is damp, not wet, when we leave, because the extractor removes most of the water. Most cars are dry within a few hours in warm weather. In cold weather it takes longer, so park in a garage if you can, or crack the windows on a dry day, and run the heat with fresh air for the first drive. Damp fabric that stays closed up for days is what causes musty smells, so give it air.
What shampoo can and cannot fix
Shampoo removes dirt, salt, most food and drink stains, and the smells trapped in the fabric. It cannot undo damage. Burns, tears, faded fabric and some dye stains (ink, hair dye, some markers) stay. If you are unsure about a stain, send us a photo when you book. For smoke or strong odours that stay after the shampoo, add an ozone odour treatment (C$70). Heavy pet hair is an add-on from C$25.
